Balance of Performance: the Audi is the heaviest car

30 March 2017

The TCR International Series technical department has issued its bulletin to fix the Balance of Performance for the 2017 season.
The new Audi RS 3 LMS has been given 45 extra kilos that brings the running weight up from 1285 to 1330 kilos, including the driver. The second heaviest car is the Opel Astra at 1325 kilos, including a BoP of 40kg.
The Honda Civic Type-R and SEAT León cars must run at 1315 kilos with 30kg of BoP, while the Volkswagen Golf GTi will carry 10 kg of BoP, so it will run at 1295 kilos.
The Alfa Romeo Giulietta was granted a weight break of 20 kg, which brings down its running weight to 1265 kilos.
Both the Giulietta and the Golf have also been granted a reduction of their ride height from 80 to 70 mm.
The control of the engine performance level by monitored electronic components – another parameter that may be adjusted to balance the performance – has not been changed for the time being, therefore all cars will be able to use full power.
The technical department has the power to further adjust the Balance of Performance during the first race weekend of the season.
