Alba Cano is crowned TCR champion in Spanish enduro
Alba Cano Ramírez became the first lady driver to claim a TCR title as she was crowned champion in the Campeonato de España Resistencia at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Cano and her occasional co-driver David Cebrián drove their Monlau Competición CUPRA to finish fifth in the two-hour race that ended the season. This was enough for the lady from Málaga to secure the title while her direct competitor Dídac Ros, who had arrived in Barcelona as runner-up, six points behind, was only classified 11th in the class after the RC2 Junior Team CUPRA he was sharing with José Manuel García suffered from technical problems just like the sister car of the Martínez brothers, Raúl and Rubén, who were not even classified.
The race was won by the Tecnicars Racing Team CUPRA driven by Mikel Azcona and Evgenii Leonov who took the lead for good with twenty minutes to go and scored their third victory of the season, beating the other Monlau Competición team of Gianluca Vicinanza-Álex Cosín by a bit more than half-a-minute. The podium was completed by the CUPRA entered by Motor Club Sababell for Arturo Espuny and Alejandro Royo, while the fourth place went to Roberto Ferri’s Baporo Motorsport CUPRA as the Italian passed Cano during the dying moments of the competition.
Ferri’s Andorran teammate Amalia Vinyes Dabad finished in seventh position and so moved up into the third position in the final standings behind Ros.
