André Couto sets a double pole position at Ningbo

TCR China competitors took part in two Qualifying sessions at Ningbo International Speedpark to determine the grids for tomorrow’s Rounds 4 and 5 of the series.
Series newcomer André Couto set pole position for both sprint races on his first appearance at the wheel of the MacPro Racing Honda Civic FK8 that was shared by Henry Ho and Eurico de Jesus in the previous event at Zhuhai.
Couto who makes his comeback to Touring Car racing, topped the first Qualifying session with a lap of 1:53.296. Zhu Zhen Yu was second fastest (1:54.519) in the CUS Volkswagen Golf GTI, followed by two other Golf cars: Leo Racing’s driven by Li Lin (1:54.734) and TeamWork Motorsport’s driven by Alex Hui (1:55.450).
Couto was even more dominating in the second session, clocking a fastest lap of 1:52.774 that gave him the pole for Race 2. He inflicted a gap of 2.3 seconds to Zhou Bi Huang (1:55.067) who had replaced Zhu Zhen Yu in the CUS VW Golf, while the Golf of TeamWork Motorsport was qualified third by Sunny Wong (1:55.342).
The two sprint races will take place Saturday at 9:05 local (3:05 CET) and 17:10 local (11:10 CET); both will be streamed live at www.tcr-series.com.
