Enrico Bettera confirms to be the fastest at Imola

Enrico Bettera confirmed he’s TCR Italy’s fastest driver at Imola; just like on the occasion of the series’ previous visit at the circuit, in June, he placed the Pit Lane Competizioni Audi RS 3 LMS on pole position.
Matteo Greco qualified in second position, 76 thousandths of a second behind, beating Jacopo Guidetti by less than one tenth. The two main title contenders, Salvatore Tavano and Marco Pellegrini were classified in seventh and eighth positions respectively, and so they will share the front row on the reverse grid for Sunday’s Race 2.
Bettera showed his pace from the very start with a provisional fastest lap of 1:53.399 that he improved immediately afterwards to 1:53.328.
The session was disrupted by the red flag with 14 minutes left on the clock when Günter Benninger’s CUPRA stopped on the track with some technical issues. When the session resumed, Bettera clocked his pole position time of 1:52.849.
The final moments were enlivened by a thrilling fight for the second spot of the grid that involved half-a-dozen of drivers who demoted each other several times. Eventually, Greco ranked second beating Guidetti, Igor Stefanovski, Felix Wimmer and Stefano Comini.
