Farfus and the Hyundai ETCR at high-speed on Daytona banking

Augusto Farfus drove the Hyundai Veloster N ETCR for high-speed demonstration at Daytona International Speedway within the frame of the Rolex 24-hour weekend.
The Hyundai Motorsport development driver completed three laps of the 3.6-mile road track, including the iconic 31° banked oval turns just before the start of the season opening round of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge.

“It was a unique experience to drive the Veloster N ETCR on this track that is one of the most iconic of the planet. The car was really fast on the oval, although it has not been designed for racing on the banking, but for short and very intense races. However, today we have proved that an ETCR car can also perform well on a track like this. I was honoured and I wish to thank IMSA, WSC and Hyundai Motorsport for giving me this opportunity today,” said Farfus.

WSC president Marcello Lotti echoed: “We are very proud and to watch the Hyundai Veloster N ETCR running at high-speed on the Daytona oval gave me the shivers. The car was impressively fast and ran without any issues. It has not been easy to organise this demonstration with all the restrictions imposed by the pandemic. But it was definitely worth, because our goal was to show our product and these few laps have already stirred a lot of interest here in the paddock.”

The event, aimed to promote the ETCR concept in the region, has been set up by IMSA and WSC, with the cooperation of Hyundai Motorsport.
