Luca Engstler tops a wet Qualifying at the Lauzitring

Luca Engstler took pole position for that ADAC TCR Germany’s Saturday Race 1 at the Lausitzring. In a wet Qualifying, the Hyundai Team Engstler’s set the fastest lap of 1:29.339 halfway through the 20-minute session and no one was able to improve his time.
Lithuania’s Jonas Karklys completed an all-Hyundai front row by qualifying second with a 1:29.755 set on his second lap out of the pits, while Philipp Regensperger created a surprise placing his Lubner Motorsport-run Opel Astra in third position with the time of 1:29.809, only 54 thousandths behind Kraklys; he also topped the Junior class ahead of Engstler’s teammate Nico Gruber who posted the fourth fastest lap of 1:29.898. Team Engstler’s third driver, Martin Andersen was classified fifth another three hundredths behind Gruber.
Marcel Fugel was the best of the Honda drivers, posting the sixth fastest lap of 1:30.066, three thousandths quicker than the CUPRA of Eric Scalvini, the winner of both races in the previous event at the Red Bull Ring. Dominik Fugel was eighth fastest, and Szymon Ładniak (JP Motorsport Volkswagen Golf) and guest newcomer Christopher Röhner in the third Team ADAC Sachsen Honda Civic car rounded off the top ten. 
With the eight fastest drivers covered by eight tenths, the first race promises to deliver an exciting show; the start will be at 13:40 CEST with live streaming at www.tcr-series.com.
