Nobody can catch Dahlgren in Jyllandsringen Race 1
08 September 2019
Robert Dahlgren was uncatchable in TCR Scandinavia’s first race at Jyllandsringen. The PWR Racing driver easily converted the pole position in his third race win of the season and increased his leading margin in the standings.
The Brink Motorsport duo of Tobias Brink and Andreas Wernersson claimed the remaining podium positions, but dropped 24 and 31 points behind Dahlgren, while Andreas Ahlberg – fourth in the race as in the standings – has now a gap of 41 points.
The layout of the Danish circuit doesn’t favour overtaking manoeuvres and so there were very few changes of positions during the 18-lap race.
Dahlgren led from the start, followed by Casper Elgaard, Brink, Wernersson and Hannes Morin; Mattias Andersson passed Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinski for sixth, but she retook the position one lap later.
On lap 4, Elgaard served a drive-through penalty for false start and dropped to sixth, then on lap 7 Morin too was given a drive-through and rejoined in seventh place, behind Elgaard and Åhlin-Kottulinski.
There were no further changes until the end, in spite of Morin’s vain efforts to pass Åhlin-Kottulinski; the young Norwegian Kristian Sætheren finished ninth in his first Touring Car race at the wheel of the Insight Racing Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce.
Race 2 at Karlskoga is scheduled to start at 15:45 CET with Morin and Ahlberg filling the front row of the top-six reverse grid; live streaming at www.tcr-series.com and www.tcr-series.tv.
