Only six points split Alba Cano and Dídac Ros in the CER

14 October 2019

The fight for the TCR title in the Campeonato de España Resistencia is even hotter after the penultimate event at Jarama. Both Alba Cano Ramírez and Dídac Ros claimed two podium results in the Madrid’s races and so they are still split by six points on top of the standings.
The first race marked the maiden victory for Raúl and Rubén Martínez who finished sixth overall behind a group of Sports and GT cars. Alba Cano was classified second ahead of the CUPRA that Ros shared with José Luís García. The Tecnicars Racing Team CUPRA DSG that Mikel Azcona had placed on pole position in the class retired from the lead 15 minutes before the end of the race with a technical issue. Amalia Vinyes lost a possible podium result due to a puncture with only four laps to go.
Azcona and his Russian co-driver Evgenii Leonov made up from the disappointment with an authoritative victory in the second race in which they were classified fourth overall. Leonov drove in the first half of the race and handed the car to Azcona in second position; it took only two laps to the 2018 TCR Europe champion to move into the lead. Azcona took the chequered flag with a one-lap advantage over Ros-García, with Alba Cano in third position.
The season will come to an end at Barcelona-Catalunya on November 9th/10th with a single 2-hour race that will award 52 points to the winners. This means that the Martínez brothers and Amalia Vinyes are still in contention, as they are currently lying in third and fourth positions respectively with gaps of 40 and 42 points.
