The Cupra TCR of Robert Dahlgren will start Race 1 at Falkenberg from pole position after setting the fastest time in Q2 this afternoon. Alongside the current championship leader on the front row of the grid will be the Volkswagen Golf GTI of Andreas Wernersson, with Johan Kristoffersson and Fredrik Ekblom making it an all-Volkswagen second row.
In the twenty-minute first stage of Qualifying, Kristoffersson was the early pace-setter with a best lap of 51.074. Dahlgren was second fastest (51.133) with Mattias Andersson third (51.573) in his Honda Civic. The light rain that had been falling throughout the session began to get heavier after around ten minutes had passed and most of the cars headed for the pits. The safety car then came out after Jessica Bäckman went off at Turn 1, but she rejoined.
Going through to Q2 – Kristoffersson, Dahlgren, Andersson, Wernersson, Ohlsson, Brink, Söderström, Ekblom, Ahlberg, Nerman, Morin and Andreas Bäckman. Four Juniors went through, while the top ten was covered by just over a second.
The ten-minute Q2 then started with a very wet track, but the rain had eased off. Halfway through the session, Kristoffersson went fastest with a best lap time of 52.680 from Ekblom (53.022). Then, with less than three minutes remaining, Dahlgren went quickest (52.211), Kristoffersson improved with a 52.351 but Wernersson went P2 with a 52.229. Ekblom also improved with a best lap of 52.582.
Dahlgren will therefore start from pole for Race 1, while the reversed top ten grid for Race 2 will then see Tobias Brink on pole in his Audi RS3 LMS. Race 1 starts at 13.00 and Race 2 at 15.20 (CET); both races will be streamed live at www.tcr-series.com and www.tcr-series.tv.
