The Copenhagen Grand Prix will mark the first time ever the ETCR cars will race on a street circuit.
After PURE ETCR's inaugural season began with events at Vallelunga and MotorLand Aragón, the third event takes place this weekend on the Bellahøj Park circuit, located in the northwestern park of Denmark's capital city. The 2.4km racetrack is laid out on public roads around the park itself and the Grøndal multisports centre.
From 2013, Bellahøj Park is the home of the Copenhagen Historic Grand Prix and for the first time the event opens the door to electric racing cars.
Track activity will begin of Friday with two Free Practice sessions and will continue Saturday with the Battles for Rounds 1 and 2, over the distance of 5 laps and with the power limited to 300kW.
On Sunday, the drivers will use the full power of 500kW for the one-lap Time Trial that will determine the grid for the two Super Finals that will be race over 7 laps.
After the first two events, the standings are led by Mattias Ekström (CUPRA e-Racer) with 146 points who is followed by Jean-Karl Vernay (Hyundai Veloster N) who has scored 124 points. Another CUPRA driver, Jordi Gené is currently third with a gap of 37 points while Rodrigo Baptista (Alfa Romeo Giulia by Romeo Ferraris) lies in fourth position three further points behind.
The Copenhagen event will also mark the first appearance of Philipp Eng at the wheel of a Romeo Ferraris Giulia ETCR. The 31-year-old Austrian has been successful in single-seater and sportscar racing, claiming victories in Spa and Daytona 24 hours. Eng replaces Stefano Coletti who raced the Giulia at Vallelunga and MotorLand Aragón.
