With a perfect lap just before the Q2 part of the Qualifying expired, Andreas Wernersson placed his Brink Motorsport Audi RS 3 LMS on pole position for TCR Scandinavia’s Race 1 at Skellefteå.
Current championship leader Robert Dahlgren had topped the twenty-minute Q1 setting a lap of 1:53.787 at the wheel of his CUPRA and beating Wernersson’s 1:54.375 by a bit more than five tenths. Dahlgren’s PWR Racing teammate Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky managed to improve on her final attempt to be placed third (1:54.522). She was followed by Hannes Morin, Andreas Ahlberg and Tobias Brink who completed the top six who advanced to Q2. The only one who failed to make the cut was Peter Wallenberg in the third PWR car. Mattias Andersson’s Honda Civic was sidelined by an engine failure in Practice.
Wernersson set the pace at the beginning of Q2 with a lap of 1:53.888 that was soon beaten by Dahlgren’s 1:53.809. However, the Brink Motorsport man improved on his last attempt and snatched the pole. Ahlberg and Morin qualified in third and fourth positions respectively and so will share the front row of the top-four reverse grid for tomorrow night’s Race 2.
The two races will start tomorrow at 14:30 and 20:05 (CET); live streaming at www.tcr-series.tv.
