22 March 2018

Gianni Morbidelli has been signed by Team Mulsanne to drive the Italian outfit’s second Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR in the 2018 WTCR, alongside Fabrizio Giovanardi.
Morbidelli who has tested the Romeo Ferraris-built car last week at Monza, raced in the TCR International Series from 2015 to 2017, claiming six race wins and six pole positions. He was classified fourth in the 2015 championship and sixth in 2016 and 2017.

Michela Cerruti, Operations Manager at Romeo Ferraris said: “We are very pleased to have Gianni joining us alongside Fabrizio Giovanardi. No doubt that they form one of the most experienced driver pairs of the series, which is exactly what we need to show the potential of our car. We have also ensured the services of two well-known professionals such as Marco Calovolo and Nicolò Castello, for the technical and marketing areas respectively.”

Back at the wheel of an Alfa Romeo racing car, twelve years after the 2006 WTCC, Morbidelli said:
“I am happy and honoured to be back at the top level of world's touring car racing, and to do it with an Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR by Romeo Ferraris, sporting the logo of such a prestigious brand. It will be a championship with many great teams and drivers, and this makes the challenge even more exciting. I wish to thank Team Mulsanne for their trust and for giving me this great opportunity."
