An authoritative maiden win for Eric Scalvini in TCR Germany

Eric Scalvini took an authoritative maiden victory in the ADAC TCR Germany at the Red Bull Ring. The Italian driver started from the pole and led for the whole distance in his CUPRA Leon Competición car, giving Wimmer Werk Motorsport their first win in the championship on the team’s home ground.
Luca Engstler who had dominated the season opening event at Oschersleben followed Scalvini but couldn’t get close enough to threaten his first place. Brothers Dominik and Marcel Fugel finished third and fourth respectively.
These results meant that Engstler increased his leading margin in the standings to 30 points over Dominik, while Scalvini moved up into third a further two points adrift.
At the start, Scalvini sprinted from the pole to lead ahead of Engstler, Dominik and Marcel Fugel. Behind them Martin Andersen and Sandro Soubek made contact while fighting for fifth. The Austrian driver pitted with a puncture and Robin Jahr benefited from the battle to move up into P5. However, Andersen was able to retake the position soon afterwards.
Positions froze for the rest of the race and the only close battle was between Jahr and René Kircher for the sixth position.
Track action will resume tomorrow at 9:30 CEST with the Qualifying for the second race.
