Andreas Bellu’s salute to Charly Lamm

Amongst the people who work for TCR, there is one person that has been especially touched by the passing of Charly Lamm.
Andreas Bellu, now chief of TCR Technical Department, has worked together with Charly Lamm and his brother Dieter for more than thirty years under the banners of BMW Motorsport and the BMW Team Schnitzer.
Though ravaged by the loss, Andreas has bravely written a heartfelt salute to a dear friend.

“Charly, the charming boy, everybody’s’ fellow is gone. Just a few days after stopping his outstanding carrier!
It sounds like a refuse to live away from motorsport!
Charly was in racing like a fish in the water. That was his world and implied strategic thinking, tactical decisions, high professional training for the drivers and the crew.
He was always focused on his job, inventing ways to reach the goal.
In history remains Roberto Ravaglia’s fantastic title in the first ever World Touring Car Championship with the BMW M3 E30, facing the armada of the more powerful Ford Sierra Cosworth cars. That was Charly’s own success!
Charly had the talent to motivate the team and keep it together. In the fast-changing motorsport world it is not so common to see stable and successful teams over decades. Charly knew the secret, but also tried steadily to improve.
Charly was a fair sportsman, something that was always recognized even by his rivals.
Together with Charly, I had a long cooperation, with many tremendous victories, but also with a few bitter defeats.
Despite a travelling life, Charly was a loving husband and father, and I offer my sincere condolences to his family.
Charly was my friend, and I will miss him very much!
