Bence Boldizs benefits from penalties once more

12 June 2020

Zengő Motorsport’s Bence Boldizs profited by the penalties imposed to the competitors of the TCR Europe SIM series once more. After inheriting victory in the second race at the virtual Hungaroring, the Hungarian youngster cut his gap from Dániel Nagy from 56 to 50 points thanks to the post-race sanctions of the Le Castellet event.
The penalties did not affect the top-five positions of Race 1 that saw Nagy’s fifth win from Mat’o Homola, Gilles Magnus, Boldizs and Niels Langeveld. Tamás Tenke was given a 10-second penalty for track limits and dropped from sixth to ninth.
The results of the second race underwent a number of changes, as Homola, Magnus and Langeveld who had finished second, fifth and sixth positions were all given penalties for incidents with other competitors. Ten seconds were added to Homola’s time for hitting Aurélien Comte (who later recovered and won the race) and dropped him to sixth, while Magnus and Langeveld were demoted to 10th and 11th by 25-second penalties for colliding with Andrej Studenić and Gustavo Moura respectively.
This meant that Nagy and Viktor Davidovski advanced by one position to second and third respectively, while Jimmy Clairet and Boldizs climbed four places each to fourth and fifth.
The situation in the standings sees Nagy still in the lead with 290 points, followed by Boldizs (240), Magnus (192), Homola (182), Tenke (176) and Jimmy Clairet (173).
Nagy was the best scorer in the event with 85 points, only five short than the maximum available, and so, for the second time so far, he won the two free Yokohama tyres for the fourth race meeting of the real-life TCR Europe championship.
