González scores his first win of the season in the last race

Despite a couple of mistakes, Victor González scored his first win of the season in TC America in the series’ last race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. A win that enabled the Puerto Rican driver to secure the second place in the championship behind Tyler Maxson.
The field was reduced to seven cars, as both Tim Lewis’ Alfa Romeo and Scott Smithson’s Honda couldn’t be repaired after they had crashed in yesterday’s Race 1.
At the start, CJ Moses led from the pole position while González went wide at Turn 1; a few hundredths metres further, Olivia Askew spun after clashing with Roy Block and they both dropped down in the middle of the field of the slower cars.
Yesterday’s Race 1 winner Tristan Herbert found himself in the lead, but González soon overtook Moses for P2 and began to eat into Herbert’s advantage, while Block recovered as well and moved into P3 ahead of Moses.
In lap 9, González tried to pass Herbert, but went wide on the grass, however he didn’t lose contact and finally took the lead from the Audi driver in lap 10 and pulled away. Eventually González crossed the finishing line ten seconds ahead of Herbert, while Block was successful in keeping Moses at bay to retain the third place.
