Lloyd and Engstler to fight for TCR Malaysia title

26 February 2020

The TCR Malaysia finale, Saturday at Sepang International Circuit is expected to turn into a shootout for the title between Daniel Lloyd and Luca Engstler.
After winning the series' fourth round two weeks ago, the Briton leads the standings in his Brutal Fish Racing Honda Civic Type R, while the reigning champion who has won rounds 1 and 3 in his Team Engstler Hyundai i30 N must fill a gap of 21 points when 55 are still at stake.
Local driver Gilbert Ang (Viper Niza Racing, CUPRA) lies in third position, on equal points with Engstler, however his pace has never been up to his rivals' and he can only have a shot at the title in case both his rivals run into troubles.
Reigning TCR Europe champion Josh Files, who has joined the series with Solite Indigo Racing from the previous event, is aiming for a race win on his first outing in the Korean outfit’s Hyundai Veloster N, while South Korea's Kim Jinsoo will join him in the team's Hyundai i30 N car that was driven by Files two weeks ago.
Young Malaysian, Mitchell Cheah who took part in last year's TCR Germany, makes his return to the series, replacing Nico Gruber as Engstler's teammate.
