Ma Qing Hua and Lu Wei share wins at Zhuzhou

09 August 2020

Teamwork Motorsport won four wins from four races, after a successful Sunday at the Zhuzhou International Circuit for the team, with Ma Qing Hua winning Race 3, and Lu Wei leading from lights-to-flag in Race 4.
Yang Xi started from pole position for Race 3 in his Champ Motorsport Audi RS 3 LMS and led the way at the start ahead of the three MG 6 cars of Cui Yue, Rodolfo Ávila and Rainey He.
On lap 3, Lu Wei overtook teammate Ma, but then at the start of lap four, the Chinese driver collided with He’s MG that retired, while Lu pitted for repairs and rejoined four laps behind; the incident promoted Ma to fourth. On lap five, Ávila overtook team-mate Cui for second, while Ma closed down and passed the struggling MG for third on lap seven.
Ma then quickly dispatched Ávila’s MG two laps later and then battled with Yang’s leading Audi, eventually passing at Turn 14 with four laps to go. Ma went on to claim the win ahead of Yang and Ávila.
In Race 4, Lu Wei started from the reversed grid pole. The race was shortened by one lap after the MG of Rainey He pulled off at the end of the formation lap.
At the start, Lu led the way into Turn 1 ahead of Ma, who jumped ahead of the Autohome Racing Team Lynk & Co of Zhang Ziyi. The latter spun at Turn 2 and was collected by the two Audi cars of Yang Xi and Wu Yifan, with Yang taking significant damage that forced him to lese two laps into the pits for repairs.
Ma was briefly threatened by Ávila, with the Macanese driver moving ahead at the start of lap two, but Ma retook second place before the end of the lap and started to put some distance between them. Ma then closed on team-mate Lu and the two battled for the victory throughout the last third of the race, with Lu withstanding Ma’s attacks to claim his first victory. Ma finished just half a second behind, while Ávila was over ten seconds adrift come the finish, with Wu and Cui completing the top five.
The next round of the TCR China championship is at the Ordos International Circuit on August 22nd-23rd.
