Pedro Salvador scores another double win at Braga

Pedro Salvador continued his domination in TCR Portugal; he won both races at Braga’s Circuito Vasco Samerio, increasing his tally to five victories out of six races and stretching his leading margin in the championship classification.
In Race 1, Salvador made good use of his pole position to take the lead at the start in his Speedy Motorsport Cupra. Behind him followed Francisco Carvalho’s Veloso Motorsport Audi RS3 LMS and Francisco Abreu’s Sports & You Peugeot 308. On lap 2, Abreu made a mistake at Turn 1 and Armando Parente overtook him, moving to third in the Team Novadriver Volkswagen Golf GTI.
While Salvador was able to build a comfortable margin ahead of Carvalho and won by eight seconds, Abreu closed the gap from Parente, but couldn’t get close enough to threaten his third position.
Manuel Gião retired from fifth on lap 11, due to a technical issue of his KIA cee’d.
In the second race Salvador took the lead at the start once again, but Rafael Lobato in the Sports & You Peugeot overtook Carvalho and began chasing the leading Cupra. However, halfway through the race, Salvador pulled away and built a 3.5-second advantage over Lobato that he retained until the end. Carvalho completed the podium in third position, while Gião beat Henrique Chaves’ Team Novadriver Volkswagen by 1.4 seconds in the fight for the fourth position.
In the standings, Salvador leads the pair of Abreu-Lobato by 49 points, while Carvalho is third one further point adrift.
TCR Portugal’s season’s finale will be held at Portimão’s Autódromo Algarve on 27/28 October.
