Practice 2 – Gleason puts the Honda on top

05 May 2016

It was WestCoast Racing’s Kevin Gleason who emerged as the fastest in the second TCR practice at Spa. Once again there were a number of changes on top of the time sheet, with the lap times being faster and faster.
All drivers took part in the session, including Loris Hezemans who had skipped the morning’s practice because of a university exam.
Jean-Karl Vernay (2:37.971) and James Nash (2:37.474) set the early page. Vernay was able to improve further to 2:36.551, but he was soon ousted by Pierre-Yves Corthals’ 2:36.291. Halfway through the session the B3 Racing Team’s pack moved up to the first positions with Mat’o Homola a provisional first (2:36.001) who was then beaten by Attila Tassi (2:35.461).
Pepe Oriola was the first driver to break the 2:35. Wall posting a 2:34.922 that seemed good enough for settling the matter, while Dušan Borković (2:35.201) was only able to reach the second position.
Meanwhile, Gleason was consistently climbing in the classification and on his last timed lap he was clocked at 2:34.839 that placed him on the top ahead of Oriola, Borković and Tassi.
Vernay was the fastest of the Volkswagen drivers in fifth (2:35.466), while both the Peugeot cars struggled and ranked 16th and 17th.
Track action will resume tomorrow, with the qualifying session at 13:40 and the first race at 17:30.
