Robert Dahlgren claims two poles at Knutstorp finale

09 October 2020

Robert Dahlgren has stamped his intention to fight to the end for the 2020 TCR Scandinavia championship title after claiming two pole positions in his PWR Racing CUPRA Leon Competición at Ring Knutstorp.
Dahlgren’s title rivals Rob Huff and Tobias Brink will start right behind him for each of the first two races.
In Q1, the two Lestrup Racing Team Volkswagen Golf cars of Rob Huff and Oliver Söderström swapped best lap times for the first half of the session, before Dahlgren jumped ahead on his final run by just 0.052 seconds to claim pole for Race 1, while points leader Tobias Brink, carrying 60kg of ballast this weekend on his Audi RS 3, had to settle for fourth, just two-tenths off the pace.
In Qualifying 2, which sets the grid for Race 2 and also allocates points for the championship, Brink set down a first target time of 59.896, but this was quickly bettered by first Huff, and then Dahlgren.
All of the top eight drivers headed out for a second run, with Brink retaking provisional pole, before Dahlgren snatched it straight back with a time of 59.351, a tenth clear and just a tenth away from the all-time lap record, which was set in much warmer conditions in 2018.
Söderström qualified third, with Huff fourth, with the second Brink Audi of Hannes Morin completing the top five.
Brink continues to lead the standings and has now extended his lead after points to qualifying to 16 points over both Huff and Dahlgren, with 75 still available from tomorrow’s three races.
Race 1 is scheduled for 10:35 CEST, with Race 2 at 13:35 and Race 3 15:35.
