Rookie Moring signs pole position at Knutstorp

04 May 2018

TCR Scandinavia rookie Philip Morin led a PWR Racing 1-2 in the Qualifying for the opening round of the 2018 TCR Scandinavia at Ring Knutstorp.
Morin was fastest in Q1, with a time of 59.400 in his Cupra TCR, ahead of his teammates Daniel Haglöf (59.552) and Robert Dahlgren (59.650); the three Cupra cars were followed by Johan Kristoffersson’s Volkswagen Golf (59.659) and Tobias Brink’s Audi RS3 LMS (59.753).
The Q2 part of Qualifying was exciting, with a number of drivers alternating on top: Kristoffersson, Andreas Wernersson and Fredrik Ekblom all set provisional fastest times; however, Morin clocked an impressive lap of 59.303 that was enough to win the pole position. His teammate Haglöf climbed to second (59.384), while Kristoffersson maintained the third position (59.542) ahead of the reigning champion Dahlgren (59.682). Brink motorsport teammates Brink (59.758) and Micke Ohlsson (59.856) will share the third row of the grid for tomorrow Race 1.
Wernersson (Lestrup Racing VW) qualified tenth and will start the second race from pole position on the reverse grid. Q1 was suspended behind yellow flags after Nicklas Oscarsson went off in his Golf GTI, meaning he was unable to take his place in Qualifying 2 and will start 12th for both of tomorrow’s races.
Race 1 will start at 13:10 tomorrow.
