TC America resumes at VIR after four months

09 July 2020

TC America resumes this weekend at Virginia International Raceway, following a four-month pause imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Tyler Maxson leads the standings after scoring a double victory in March at the Circuit of Americas in his Copeland Motorsports Hyundai i30 N.
The reigning champion FCP Euro team announced that their Volkswagen Golf GTI cars of Michael Hurczyn and Nate Vincent will skip this event and also the following one at Sonoma (7/9 August) because of the pandemic aftermath.
However, the field is boosted by the arrival of three DSG cars: two Audi RS 3 LMS machines for Tristan Herbert and Brazil's Vinnie Lima, plus one Volkswagen Golf GTI for Luke Rumburg. DXDT Racing entered a third Honda Civic Type R for Olivia Askew in addition to those of C.J. Moses and Scott Simpson. In this event and in the following three as well, the TC America competitors will take part in three races, instead of two, which will make for a 16-round championship.
