TCR Germany’s title fight resumes at Zandvoort

15 August 2018

TCR Germany visits the Netherlands this weekend, as Circuit Zandvoort hosts the fifth event of the season.
The title fight is red hot, with HP Racing's Harald Proczyk still on top of the standings at 219 points and Racing One's Niels Langeveld second, just ten points behind.
Racing at Zandvoort gives local hero Langeveld a unique opportunity to overturn the situation. In fact the Dutch driver was the fastest man in the 2017 event and crossed the finishing line first in both races.
However, just like 17 other drivers, he was penalised in Race 1 for changing the tyres on the grid and victory was inherited by Jason Wolfe. Langeveld took his revenge in Race 2 with an authoritative lights-to-flag win.
A few other drivers are eager to interfere with the Proczyk vs Langeveld fight, like Luca Engstler who has swapped his Volkswagen Golf GTI for a Hyundai i30 N in the previous event and lies third in the standings, 21 points behind the leader, or Mike Halder who won both races at the Nürburgring two weeks ago, moving up to fourth in the classification with a gap of 29.
