The new era of Electric Touring Cars begins at Vallelunga

17 June 2021

A new chapter in motorsport opens this weekend at Vallelunga, with the inaugural event of the PURE ETCR, the first multi-brand championship for electric Touring Cars that adopts the ETCR technical regulations.
Three brands have committed to take part in this pioneer season: CUPRA with the e-Racer, Hyundai with the Veloster N and Romeo Ferraris with the Alfa Romeo Giulia. Each of them is running two cars for two pairs of drivers that will share driving duties during a series of short and exciting battles.
PURE ETCR's promoter Eurosport Events has created an innovative event format. On Saturday, competitors - split in four groups of three drivers each - will race on the 1.75km Club circuit for Battle 1 (7 laps @ 300kw) and Battle 2 (7 laps @ 450kw), starting from gates. On Sunday morning, the action will switch to the 3.20km International circuit, starting with Round 3, in which each driver will complete only one flying lap using the maximum output of 500kw.
The event will culminate with the Finals A and B (8 laps @ 300 kw), each of them featuring six cars that will start from the grid.
In-between the action on the track, the cars will be recharged at the Energy Station, located in the paddock.
The latest addition to the entry list was Hungary's Dániel Nagy, who completes the line-up of the Zengő Motorsport CUPRA team.
