The WTCR resumes on the tricky streets of Macau

Unlike it happened in previous years, the World Touring Car season will not come to end at Macau. This week's event on the Guia Street circuit is the penultimate one for the WTCR that will then finish at Sepang in December.
However, it is very likely that Macau's three races will be crucial in reducing the number of those drivers who will be fighting for the title until the bitter end.
So far, Esteban Guerrieri (Münnich Motorsport, Honda Civic) leads the standings with 288 points, but he is closely followed by Norbert Michelisz (BRC Racing, Hyundai i30 N) who is six points behind. In third and fourth position is the Cyan Racing duo of Thed Björk and Yvan Muller (Lynk&Co 03) who are a further 40 and 48 points adrift. Björk is the only one among them who has never won a race at Macau. Guerrieri broke his duck last year, Michelisz claimed there his first WTCC victory in 2010 and Muller scored twice in 2006 and 2007.
Besides the main title contenders, other drivers are aiming for great results this weekend, starting with Andy Priaulx (Cyan Racing, Lynk&Co 03) and Rob Huff (Sébastien Loeb Racing, Volkswagen Golf GTI). The former returns to the Macau Guia Race that he won twice in 2006 and 2007 and sacred him World Champion three times in a row, while Huff, the record winner in the Guia Race, will be looking for his tenth victory there.
In 2018 the WTCR races were won by Jean-Karl Vernay, Frédéric Vervisch and Guerrieri.
