W2 Racing to race two Honda cars in 2021 TCR South America

08 October 2020

The W2 Racing team, based in Rio de Janeiro, announced their plans for racing next year in the inaugural season of TCR South America.
The Brazilian outfit, one of the most successful ever in the national Stock Car Light series, will run two Honda Civic Type R cars. Raphael Reis is the first driver signed for the programme; the 2018 Stock Car Light champion, Reis is the points leader in the current season.

“I’m very pleased to announce our programme in TCR South America. I have a long standing and successful relationship with the team and to face together this new challenge is a dream that comes true. Switching from the rear-wheel driven Stock cars to the front-wheel driven TCR cars will bring us back to our roots, when we started in the ‘Regionais de Marcas’. The Honda is a very competitive car and we will benefit from the technical support from JAS Motorsport,” Reis explained.

Team principal Serafin Taboas Júnior added: “The TCR concept is successful on a global scale and we believe there are the premises to deliver a good championship in South America. We are extremely motivated to face this new challenge in an international category and we are also very proud to represent Honda that is one of the most important brands in the Brazilian market.”
