Zengő Motorsport wins TCR class in the Dubai 6H

26 January 2019

The 6 hours of Dubai, opening round of the 24H Middle East series finished with the Zengő Motorsport CUPRA victorious in the TCR class and second overall behind a Wolf prototype.
For most of the race the Red Camel Jordans.nl CUPRA driven by Luc Breukers and Yusif Bassil had a comfortable lead, but one hour before the end the Dutch team ran into brake problems and lost many laps in the pits for fixing the ABS system.
This propelled Zoltán Zengő and Csába Tóth towards an unexpected victory, as they completed 178 laps, only six less compared to the winning prototype.

“I am very happy,” team founder Zoltán Zengő said. “We’ve worked hard for this success, the team did a great job, and Csába drove really well. We’re really sorry for Red Camel-Jordans.nl, but our focus was on consistency rather than quick lap times and to make our pit stops smooth.”

René Münnich took part in the race only to cover the minimum distance that would grant him 10 bonus points for the TCR Middle East series. After winning yesterday’s two sprint races, the German driver and his All-Inkl.com Münnich Motorsport Honda Civic FK7 are leading the standings with 65 points, 15 more than Breukers.
The second event of TCR Middle East and 24H Middle East will take place Friday and Saturday at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina circuit; the two sprint races on day 1 will be followed by a 4-hour race on Day 2.
